At my second appointment at the Specialised Ability Centre Manchester I saw the Dr along with the nurse. Still not being weight bearing the only news I had was that my stump had shrunk to a size 2. It feels like progress. Unfortunately, although I have one leg ready my stump side’s femur is still healing. I have a 12inch plate that apparently allows some movement, so my next visit in June will hopefully be more fruitful. It was, however, really good to catch up and see some familiar faces. Just being around other amputees just feels good. I’ve met some great people via the MPUA and highly encourage any amputee to get in touch and meet a volunteer – just having a chat about experiences or specific problems really helps.
