Anyone who has read my introduction knows my bones are playing catch up and my good leg isn’t necessarily ‘good’, at the moment. Not every amputee has a 100% working leg, so I would imagine I am one of many.
This week I was finally given full weight bearing status after nearly 5 months of being horizontal due to severe multiple fractures to both legs.
Today was the first time I stood. Not only that, I walked, four steps. Four very, difficult, steps. But they were steps.
I had help in the form of two physios and a walking frame, I never thought I’d be so pleased to see one at the age of 35.
My homework for the week is to practice standing. I wasn’t great at one leg standing before the accident let alone now, time to get good at it I guess!
